Our experienced educators focus on fostering social, emotional, and cognitive development through play-based learning and age-appropriate activities. We are committed to preparing your child for a successful transition to school.
We are a group of around 16 children all aged 2 ¾ – 4 years.
We aim to provide personalised learning, development and care and we do this through planning for your individual child. During their time with us we carefully observe and assess their interests and progress, allowing us to provide activities and experiences that interest them personally.
Creative development is a major part of our daily routine and children get plenty of opportunity to express themselves with paint, chalk and playdough as well as learning the behaviours of natural materials like sand, soil and water. We have an ‘imaginative play area’ giving the children space to develop their personal, social and emotional behaviour and our weekly timetable incorporates lots of problem solving and numerical activities to give children a broad concept of Maths. The day starts with a chat about the weather, the weekend or perhaps our family and encourages the children’s conversation.
All of our work ensures we make progress towards the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage’ and we feel our Pre – School is the the perfect preparation for school.

We have recently embarked upon the 'Healthy Smiles' initiative, and as a result we have significantly reduced the amount of sugary and salty food that we offer at snack times, we have re written our lunch menu to make it as fresh as can be with our wonderful chef, Eva preparing all vegetables and making all sauces from scratch. As a team, we all support the children's awareness of foods that are good for them as well as teaching good routines like toothbrushing.

All agencies that work with children, young people and families are responsible for listening to your concerns and worries and working closely with you to make sure you and your family get the right support at the right time.
At times children and families need a bit of extra support – and when that happens, it’s ok to ask for help.
Early help is there to make sure worries don’t become bigger and you get the support you need at the right time.

Some families with 3 & 4 year old children are eligible for Early Years Pupil Premium funding. If this applies to you, this extra funding could enhance your child's experience at nursery. This can be done via the setting purchasing additional equipment and resources specifically for your child and could include additional training for our staff on things like early language.

Being able to speak up when you are feeling down, having words to explain your emotions and knowing where to get help when you are not feeling well are fundamental to keeping our minds healthy. We have looked hard at the things in life that make for a healthy, balanced mind and body. Our policies underpin our practice but alongside this we do our best to make sure that every child, parent and staff member feels valued and special.
If you ever have any concerns about your child's wellbeing or mental health, please tell us straight away and we will look at ways that we can support both you and your little person.

Bringing up children is rarely easy and we know that, as well as the challenges that everyday brings, there can also be some parts of life where we could do with a bit of support, help and advice...
So, we have put together few of our favourite resource pages and links, that help us on our journey to supporting children's growth and development,

We have been using this fantastic speech and language programme for four years now and have found that it has really helped us identify, target and support children who have delayed language skills.
It is widely accepted that early intervention is the best way to prevent children under-performing later in life so at Annabelle’s Pre-school Fernham, we make regular assessments of your child’s communication and language abilities so we can work together to support your child if they are not on track and need a little bit of help!
